How to reapply sunscreen

Updated: Mar 31, 2021

We’ve all probably considered sunscreen as an essential item for daily routine. Consistent usage of sunscreen helps protect skin from harmful matters and will benefit into the future.

When should we use sunscreen?

Sunscreen should be the last step of our skincare routine in daytime. It is also used after sweating, exercising, and swimming. It should also be reapplied every 2-3 hours if you stay outdoor. Sunscreen can only protect our skin for a few hours, and because of certain things like sweat and hand contact on skin, it takes off some amount of sunscreen which makes it less effective overtime.

Sunscreen must be used whether indoor, outdoor, rainy or cloudy weather, etc. Our skin will always be exposed to harmful UV rays (UVA, UVB) and it can also penetrate through glass.

How to reapply?

Reapplication can be uncomfortable if you have makeup on or dirt and grimes that could be on your skin. Therefore, we have a few methods for how to reapply SPF:

  1. Powder sunscreen: If you haven’t heard of it, this sunscreen is powder type that usually comes in a brush, and it is great for those who have makeup on and can really help control the oil that build up on our skin.

  2. Cushion: If you have an empty cushion, you can pour your sunscreen onto the sponge, and easily applies onto skin the same way you apply makeup.

  3. Sun Spray: Just spray onto face for reapplication, can gives a fresh feeling on skin.

  4. Blotting papers: Great for oily skin, use by blotting the oil and dirt off your face, then apply sunscreen as usual.

If you don’t have makeup on or have been indoors, it is fine to reapply sunscreen normally as long as your hands are clean.
